Cafes list – top tips for day rides

We are often asked for our tips on good local cafés to visit for day rides out of Bristol, and so we have put together this little list of ten favourites from members’ suggestions. They make ideal rides out if you are looking for a short or long adventure on the saddle. We suggest checking they are open beforehand and using, our favourite route planner, or Google to determine your best route.

In no particular order, here are some of Bristol Cycling’s suggested favourite cafés to visit:

The Connies, Timsbury

Delightful tea rooms serving light meals too. Timsbury is a pleasant ride out, ideal for getting out of the city and into local countryside but not too far.

Coffee#1, Chipping Sodbury

Coffee#1 has many local spots and their coffee is consistently good. Chipping Sodbury makes for a pretty ride out.

Tortworth Estate Farm Shop & The Farmers Table

The Greedy Goose Tea Rooms and CarveryGatcombe Farm

A short delightful ride out of Bristol, the farm can be reached from Bristol harbourside along cycle ways, and without venturing on to roads at all.

Tyntesfield – The Cow Barn Kitchen

Wraxall, Bristol, North Somerset BS48 1NX

A very special National Trust property a short ride out from Bristol. You can visit the café without visiting the house and grounds, for which there is an entrance fee for non-members, and they have sheltered bike parking. Also a café in the grounds by the Orangerie (for members and visitors).

Shirley’s Café

Severn Beach, Station Rd, Severn Beach, Bristol BS35 4PL

What can we say? Timeless. A special favourite in “New Brighton”, and Severn Beach even has a railway station for a Train Assisted Ride out or back, should you be so minded

Wharfside Tea Rooms

Nestling in the shadows of the Bleadon Hills in a lovely coastal location this peaceful spot makes a welcome diversion on a full day ride where train assistance may even be considered

This slightly retro haunt in the delightfully refurbished old station would supplement a cycle along the ever popular Strawberry Line or a ride out of town into the countryside
