Hot on the heels of their last consultation for new cycle lanes on the A38 between Thornbury and Bristol, South Gloucestershire council is now consulting about proposals on another corridor linking major towns and villages into the Bristol North Fringe.
The A432 connects Yate to Bristol via Coalpit Heath, joining the ring road at Bromley Heath. South Glos are consulting on an outline proposal to provide safe, separated cycle lanes along the entire length.
In addition, there are proposals to upgrade a section of the ring road path to be fully separated, with separate, wide walking and cycling paths. This upgrade is long overdue and we hope that South Glos will consider the same treatment along the whole length of this busy & important corridor.
We strongly support these proposals and have written a formal response to the consultation. Whilst the detailed designs are not available yet, our response details some of our expectations for the infrastructure. We hope to work with the council to ensure the latest design standards are met, to ensure the cycle lanes are safe & convenient for all.
We urge our supporters in the area to respond to the consultation before it closes on 20th April 2022.
